A Wakefield based Software Development company, that only require you to be in the office up to twice a month, are hiring for a Test Analyst.


Who are they and what do they do?

A Software Development company that design innovative bespoke software services.

They currently have 40 members of staff - almost 30 of which work in tech.

Clients of their include JCB, SSE and Allsop.

They recently completed a digital transformation project for Allsop.

The projects you'd typically work on would last for around six months so there'll be plenty of variety in terms of the work you'll do and the clients you'll work with.

This company's clients let them get on with the job at hand so you'll be able to suggest and implement ideas you have.


What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with developers and the Test Manager to plan and understand the scope of upcoming work items.
  • Participate in the planning and estimating of work
  • Write and utilise test scripts, QA measures and processes to complete testing for each software development, customer and/or project.
  • Ensure identified bugs are logged with the appropriate level of detail and in the relevant format for reporting.
  • Recommend suitable technology improvements to internal product owners and development teams.
  • Work closely with the Test Manager, test team colleagues, project managers, internal development teams and customer teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with people across the company to ensure the successful transition of our services through to implementation.
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Support and mentor more junior test team members.


Remote working

There will be an initial settling period where they ask new starters to work from the office circa 2 days per week.

Following this, employees are only required to come into the office for specific collaborative sessions and/or team days. This would equate to 2-3 days per month.

You're more than welcome to work from the office more than this if you wish though.



Working hours

37.5 hours with core hours of 10-4.

They also offer additional flexibility if, for example, you need to pick your kids up from school.

Required experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of manual software testing techniques and practices to verify that software satisfies specified requirements and detect errors.
  • Have experience in creating and executing test cases
  • Be able to question the approach and provide alternatives
  • Be able to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.
  • Have stakeholder management experience, supported by good communication skills


Preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • ISTQB Foundation in Software Testing
  • Experience of Waterfall and Agile working methodologies
